Roxy

Mention the name Roxy Perry in New York and you'll hear rave reviews. Named New York Blues Dance Queen by Tri-State Blues Magazine, Roxy has consistently delivered great dance shows to packed houses such as Manny's Car Wash as well as other major blues rooms in the tri-state area as well as being a hit on the "corporate event circuit".

From humble beginnings, Roxy took her lessons from the greats. As she often says "I didn't play dolls, I played records". A stack of 78's including the works of Louie Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Bessie Smith, Big Mama Thornton and many more, strongly influenced the direction of her career.

At a very young age Roxy was featured vocalist with Swing orchestras and Jazz bands. They played the big dance halls like Glen Island Casino as well as smokey beatnik jazz bars. In her teens she ventured into rock and soul music. By age eighteen she had a ten piece soul band, that played seven nights a week in the heart of Manhattan at the famous Peppermint Lounge. It was her exposure in Manhattan that led to many recording and touring situations with international recording acts during the seventies and eighties. Knock Three Times and Candida, Dawn 1970, #1 record in the world, on tour with the group as back up singer for three years prior to Tony Orlando's take-over. Gimme Gimme Good Lovin 1985, #27 on Billboard charts, written and produced by Richie Cordell (Joan Jett's manager) Roxy Perry's first solo hit. After years of concerts with Kenny Rogers, Rare Earth, Eric Burden, Iron Butterfly and many other top acts of the seventies and eighties. She came back strong with her new blues band in 1990 that soon became on of the hottest bands on the New York circuit. In 1995 she was a finalist in the KLON National Blues Search held at Manny's Car Wash which led to a recording contract with Monad Records.

Recently her live and studio work added new credits. Her commercial and album credits include opening themes for The World Wrestling Federation and background vocals for Blues legend Rosco Gordon's latest album. Her rise on the blues and dance scene continues with her latest CD release; HI HEEL BLUES on Monad Records.

Her eight piece band consists of some of the country's best players with credits of their own. Roxy is also one of the few female harmonica players in the country. Her harmonica style matches her vocal style. She plays with great heart and soul. The crowd is always pleasingly surprised at this added dimension to her show.

As the saying goes "for a good time call Roxy". Her rich, expressive and powerful voice will make you laugh, cry, dance, scream and holler for more. Once you've seen and heard Roxy Perry, you'll never forget her.
