June/July Issue Features Theme: "It's all about Money" Industry News: "Money Makes The World Go 'Round'"

Often Mark Sonder Productions is queried about what percentage music/entertainment/production should be of an overall meeting or event. In the May 2005 issue of Event Solutions Magazine, The Editor-In-Chief and the Assistant Editor, Michelle Glicksman and Rachel Globus respectively authored an article entitled, "Million Dollar (Plus!) Events: Where Does the Money Go?!?" For the answer to that question, click here.

Featured Act: Eddie Money

For the best ROEI (return on entertainment investment) hire The Money Man! "Everything I do, I do it for you". Eddie Money says that line at least once, every show...and he means it. This straight up rock and roll icon has been making music and delivering it to his fans since the mid ''70s, and he wouldn't have it any other way. With hits like "Two Tickets To Paradise", "Baby Hold On", "Walk On Water", "Think I'm In Love" and "Shakin", Eddie continues to be one of the hardest working men in rock and roll. Tips of the Month: How to Determine an Event's Money Metrics

Even though money isn't the only metric, your event will still have to meet or exceed certain financial performance objectives. Sometimes those objectives will be tangible, such as sales revenue or profit, - and other times they will be intangible, such as increased goodwill, exposure, or some other future benefit. Below are five tips to determine an event's core money metrics.

  1. Determine your financial goals for the meeting or event.
  2. Calculate all of your hard cost expenses.
  3. Estimate your variable cost expenses.
  4. Forecast the total income items for your meeting or event.
  5. Take the total of #4 (income) and subtract #3 (variable costs) and #2 (hard or fixed costs).
