With only one album, Jon Secada became one of the biggest adult contemporary artist of the '90s, selling over six million albums worldwide. Secada's smooth mix of R&B, pop, and Latin music appealed to a number of different audiences. What separates him from the overly slick sound of most adult contemporary artists are his considerable songwriting skills; he's able to write sweet, affecting ballads that rarely seem contrived. As well as becoming a huge pop star, Secada is one of the hottest Latin artists recording in the '90s; his Spanish language album Otro Dia Mas Sin Verte was Billboard's number one Latin album in 1992 and won a Grammy for Best Latin Pop album. After 1995's Amor, he returned in 1997 with Secada.
