Industry Webinar: Music Licensing: What Event Planners Must Know

The history of licensing your music for meetings/events goes back to the late 1980's.  At that time Jon Howe, who assisted in negotiating the license, was speaking on the topic around the USA.  He was asked to present at Meeting World in the summer of 1991 in New York City.  Unfortunately he had a conflict.  Management at Meeting World still wanted this very important subject to be presented to its registrants and asked Jon to recommend a substitute.  That substitute was Mark Sonder.

This free webcast, Music Licensing:  What Event Planners Must Know, marks the 20th anniversary of that Meeting World presentation, now given by both Jon Howe, Esq, Partner, Howe & Hutton and Mark Sonder, CSEP, Chief Entertainment Officer, Mark Sonder Productions, Inc.  The moderator will be Meeting & Conventions Magazine Senior Editor, Sarah JF Braley.

Time:  July 20, 2011:  2pm EST

Description: When you play music during an event, you might owe licensing fees to artist agencies such as BMI and ASCAP. Failing to pay those fees can lead to hot water – and pricey penalties.
