Tips of the Month: Standards in the Event Entertainment and Production Field
February 2005

It has been said in a slapstick sort of way that, "agents have no morals!" Well...if they don't have morals, they certainly have some standards. Below are some of them.

  • Always recommend clients/buyers send in a signed written Offer. Sample Offer forms can be sent to serious potential buyers. Please inquire at the Mark Sonder Productions office.

  • Always send a Contract and Rider(s) (production) to the client/buyer. Portions of the Rider(s) can be viewed a head of time by inquiring at the Mark Sonder Productions office.

  • Always collect and hold for artist(s) a non-refundable 50% deposit. Monies are held on behalf of the artist(s) in a safe bank account.

  • Always collect and hold for artist(s) the non-refundable balance four weeks prior to the engagement. Monies are held on behalf of the artist(s) in a safe bank account and are only released when the Contract has been satisfied.

  • If at all possible, have at least one staff person on-site when a headliner is booked. So far, in our 20 years, if the engagement has been domestic, we have ALWAYS had at least one staff person on-site at all times! This "standard" is not yet recognized in the entertainment field. MSP hopes to continue to be a trend setter for this "new standard."
