Frank Vagnozzi Music Foundation
June 25, 2004, Benefit
Article by Tony Nardo (RDH member)

On June 25 there was a benefit show at the Pegasus Lounge. The Bands that rocked the house were Murder Suicide Pact, Dirty Sluts, Johnny Zoom Cheerlead Squad, Heroine, American Supermodel, and Reckless Deerhunters.

Here's the write up for the show from the Weekly Plant:

FRANK VAGNOZZI MUSIC FOUNDATION BENEFIT
In the wake of his tragic passing last year, Reckless Deerhunter's member Frank Vagnozzi's folks and friends setup this foundation in his name, with the goal of helping to nurture original, independent music and art. Come check out rock of all stripes from the Deerhunters, Murder Suicide Pact, Dirty Sluts, The Johnny Zoom Cheerlead Squad, American Supermodel and others, and throw a little money toward a worthy cause.

I [Tony Nardo] received the rights to put "Kick Your Door Down" on the cd. Also that night, Mikey Fiend donated a a Jackson Guitar to the foundation. I'm sure we'll find it a good home.

CD Update: We've been waiting on getting the rights to have the 3 cover songs on the cd. As of today, we have licenses for 2 of the 3 songs. As I mentioned before I received permission from Warner Brother last Saturday, so I hope there turn around time is quick. The cd manufacturer said that they would make the cd if I had 2 of the 3 licenses, I'm waiting on a reply from them to see if I can send everything up. Bug Music owns the rights to "Target", according to their license, I need to send them money for every cd we sell every quarter.

I also got to talk with Greg Ginn, the guitarist and leader of Black Flag, on the phone a couple of times. He said he was sorry to hear about Frank and he liked the idea of the Foundation, so he's letting us use "Jealous Again" for free. Or you could say he's donating his royalties back to the Foundation! After I talked with Greg Ginn the first time, I thought Frank would have really gotten a kick if he had gotten the chance to talk to him about business. Greg and Black Flag were one of Frank's and my Punk Rock hero's in the early 80's.
